OUTDOOR SEASON 5/30 Eastern States- In the final meet of the year, the senior class goes out with a band as they post fastest SMR of the year. 5/29- Jesuit Champs- It came down to the last events and when the dust settled a well balanced attack was able to bring the Jesuit Crown home to Xavier. The Varsity Throwers captured 1st in all three throwing events. The Jumpers took gold in both High and Long. the Sprinters scored 25 in the 100 and 200 combined. A complete team effort as Xavier tops the Prep 94-91.5. The JV took 2nd place with great performances from the underclassmen. Doug Moringiello takes the 400 Hurdles, Dan Bonamassa took the Discus. The JV Scored in every event. 5/21 CHSAA City Champs- The team shows great strength as they overcome obstacles to score 17 points. Assent takes the 110 Hurdle Crown and Burgess takes 2nd. Anderson Takes 5th in the 400, Imbert takes 4th in the hJ, Fagan takes 3rd in the Javelin with a school record toss of 159'9" 5/14- NYCHSAA Varsity Champs- The Varsity takes 4th with some great performances. Assent defends his 110 Hurdles title, Farrer takes 2nd in the 100, the 400 Relay and 1600 Relay take 3rd. Fagan pr's in the Javelin for 2nd. Burgess grabs 2nd in the 110 HH and 400 Hurdles 5/11 NYCHSAA Frosh Soph Champs- Once again the relays come thru for the sophs, The Freshmen crown 2 sectional champs, Powers in the HJ with a record leap of 5'7", D'Emic with a 10:49 for the 3200 5/7 CHSAA Frosh Soph City Champs- Great performances by the freshmen as the tally 12 points for 10th place. Soph 4x800 runs a very competitive time 5/7 Crusader Relays- As the Juniors were tested by the SAT's, the seniors traveled up north to compete. Burgess posts one of the fastest times in the state with a 15.2 for the 110 High Hurdles 5/4 CHSAA Novice Weight Champs- Moringiello and O'Neill caputure Novice City Championships. Submidget relay takes gold 4/29-30- Penn Relays- The 4x400 posts the fastest time of the year 4/26- Fordham Prep Development Meet #2- Dennis Devivo's 2:12 highlights a great meet for all 4/23- Judge Relays- Petrullo nets a medal in the Javelin as the team travels to Philly for a the weekend. 4/13- NYCHSAA Weight Champs- After a 2 hour bus ride, the weight team posts some impressive performances. They sweep the Submidget category winning all three events. Dwayne Alexander wins Midget High Jump, 4/9- Nanuet Relays- The trip up north yield a win in the High Jump and medals in the DMR,SHR and Steeple Relay. 4/9- Mount Relays- Freshman and Sophomores run tough, Fagan and Petrullo medal in the Javelin 4/7 - Fordham Prep Dev Meet- Back to school and some good performances. 4/2- Farrell Invite- Rain changed the schedule, but the brave runners collect 28 medals in soggy Staten Island. 3/31 Bishop Ford Relays- The team tries out the new stadium 3/30- Iona Prep Invitational- The one day of great weather in the week. Easter Break Info Click Here INDOOR SEASON 3/11-3/12- National Champs Both Meets-The Season ended on an up note as the hurdlers continued to rewrite the record book. The crew of 5 captured 8 ALL AMERICAN honors and ran the two fastest times in the event in school history. The SMR placed well in some serious competition placing in the top 20 in the nation. 3/6 NY State Championships- Ed Cullen and Brendan Burgess made the long pilgrimage to Syracuse and the accomplished something no other Xavier Hurdler ever did. They made the finals and Ed Cullen came away with a 6th Place Medal running a pr of 7.94 #2ATX. 3/3 NYCHSAA Championships- The Freshman were leading the meet into the last race and they finished 3 points out of 1st. Their 3rd place finish is the highest finish by a Xavier Frosh team in many years. Kevin D'Emic won the 3200 and the 1600, Andrew Powers clinched the Triple Jump with a Freshman Record leap of 34'11, Bradley Jospeh took 2nd in the 55 Dash and many of the other Freshman stepped up to score. The Varsity continued it's dominance of the Hurdles by taking 1st,2nd and 4th in that event. The finishing order from city champs was reversed with Ed Cullen taking the sectional title. The 800 Relay and 1600 Relay both captured 3rd place and both Will Imbert and Jermaine Alexander scored in two events, Jermaine took 2nd in the High Jump. 2/27- Hayes Games- This meet was a very good tune up for the team after a long winter break. The Soph SMR's dominated their race by placing 1st, 4th, and 6th. 2/14 Jesuit Champs- In one of the closest battle in recent years, Fordham Prep edges Xavier by 4 points. We had 1st place victories in the Shot Relay, High Jump Relay, Shuttle Hurdle Relay, Varsity 800 Meter Relay, Frosh DMR, Midget 400 Meter Relay, and the Junior 800 Meter Relay. A great all around team effort. 2/12 Varsity City Champs -An inspired day as the Knights ran their hearts out. Burgess, Cullen and Assent score in the 55 Hurdles neting 11points in one event. The Jumpers came up big as we scored in each jumping event we entered. The 800 Relays proved that anything cam happen when you make the final. They were seeded 6th, made the finals in 5th place and finished in 3rd Place, posting our fastest time in years. The 3200 relay ran it's heart out and posted our 2nd best time of the year. 2/6 Frosh Soph City Champs- D'emic and B Joseph score individuallly and the Frosh 800 and 1600 Meter relays medal. Kondrat comes off a week of illness to take 6th in the Soph 1000. The Varsity 800 relay and SMR medal posting our Fastest times of the year. 1/29 Mayor's Meet - Burgess takes 2nd with a great come from behind run. Imbert breaks 41' feet. The Frosh DMR wins medals and Rosa breaks 60 for the 400 and Gochal pr's for the 800. 1/15 Stanner Games- SHuttle Hurdle Relay posts a School and Meet Record.( also #1 Time in State). Fagan Breaks 40 feet in the shot. 1/12 Millrose Time Trials- Great effort as the A team runs best time of the year and the B team breaks 9 mins. Creegan keeps rolling witha 3 min pr. Fallon hits 2:12 Moody breaks 2:20. 1/9 NYCHSAA Soph Sectionals and FP Dev Meet- Sophs step up, Fallon break 5 for the 1600, Constantinu places in the triple jump. At the Development meet, Assent and ALexander take 1st, D'Emic pr's in the 1600. 1/8 Hispanic Games- The A 800 meter relay posts a 1:36.40, B team hits 1:38.5. Hamiliton and Perlata break 4:50 for the mile 1/2 Novice Weigh Champs- Bruno, Giroveanu, Fallon and Chris Alexander score to lead the team. Perez, Creegan, Gochal and Devivo set school record in the Midget 800 meter relay 12/29 Grinch Games- Everybody runs and we collect 49 medals. 123 sweep in the hurdles, 12 in the Varsity 1000 12/28 Marine Corps Holiday Classic- The freshman and Sophs post repectable times for the 3200 relay 12/22- Christmas Practice Schedule- Here is what we are doing over break. 12/21- Weight Sectionals- A tremendous team effort nets 3 sectional champs, Devivo, Perez and Creegan. We score in all relays. We take 25 medals. 12/19- Fordham Prep Dev Meet #1- Lots of great performances as the team gets to run individual races for the first time. Murtagh breaks 5, Fallon runs a pr in the 1600. Moringiello pr's in the hurdles. Frosh continue to impress with some great individual races as well as solid relays 12/18- Bishop Loughlin Games- The jumpers perform well against great competition. Alexander hits 6' and Imbert 5'10". 12/11- Relay Carnival- 4 School Records fall as the league season kicks off. The weight team medals in 3 events. Some nice pr's all around. 12/4- Ram Relays- The season kicks off with some nice runs by the half milers. Anderson paces the team with a 2:10 800. CROSS COUNTRY SEASON 11/20- Jesuit Champs/State Champs-The Cross Country Season end with a few great performances. Dan Murtagh and Jamie Peralta ran great individual races at the state meet. Kevin D'Emic wins the Freshman race at Jesuits to clinic the Individual title. 11/13- CHSAA Varsity Champs- A great weekend as the underclassmen carry the day. Varsity place 10th. Jamie Peralta and Dan Murtagh both qualify for States. Kevin Demic gets his varsity letter. The Freshman show that the future looks bright 11/6- CHSAA Frosh and Soph Champs- Historic day for the Freshman program. All three teams place in the top 4 of their races. Frosh A takes 2nd Place Highest finish for the Freshmen in school History. The Sophs a small but determined group run competitively with Will Fallon breaking 16 for the 1st time. 11/7- Marathon Road Race- Fast times for the upperclassmen as the cruise thru Central Park. Murtagh, Woerner, Hamiliton and Moody are top 4 for the team. Murtagh and Woerner are top 50 overall 11/2- Jim Scott 2 Mile Challenge- A great day at VCP. The Freshman once again run tough and as a group taking 1,2,3. The JV has some great races from the Sophomore Class. On the Varsity level some very consistent 2 mile splits. 10/30- NYCHSAA Champs- The Freshman Ran a great team race and won convincingly. Demic, Pepaj and Powers all place in the top 7 to carry the day. The Frosh B team runs great as well taking 2nd Place in that race. The Varsity runs tough, led by the 4 Juniors. The JV has some great performances from the underclassmen. 10/16- Eastern States and Molloy Meet- They Varsity takes 6th place in their race. Brendan Moody drops a huge pr. Matt Muratore breaks 15 for the first time this year. The JV team posts some big drops as Fallon has second big pr in a week. 10/16- Fordham Prep Frosh Relays-The Freshman run great as they medal in the A and B races and finish 6th in the C race. Very agressive racing and some great times as the A team breaks 30 mins for the relay 10/13- NYCHSAA Soph Champs- A great effort after the PSAT's Fallon and Bode medal.Bilger runs a competative race. Brady and Moringiello set pr's as they round out the scoring 10/9 Manhattan College- A great effort at the largest high school meet in history. Over 11,000 runners took the field, and the Running Knights were up to the challenge. Some big pr's especially from the underclassmen. The Frosh took 8th place out of 42 teams. 10/8 All Hallows Invitational- Brendan Moody runs a great pr and Brian Degennnaro leads the frosh with a 30 second pr. For the season so far 15 freshman have broken 12 mins. 10/2- McQuaid Invitational- The Varsity takes 1st Place beating 25 schools. Hamiliton, Muratgh and Peterson all place in the top 15 of the race. Woerner and Muratore round out the scoring with top 50 finishes. Bode and Batista gain valuable experience with their impressive runs in the Soph class race. 10/1- Development Meet- Perlata opens up his season with an impressive 14:17. 3 Freshman break 10 Mins, lead the Freshman in capturing 14 medals. 9/25 - Xavier Invitational- 7 Freshmen break 11 mins, lead by Powers who broke 9:25. Mike Batista and Mike Long lead the team in their respective races. Murtagh and Hamilton cross the line together and Woerner breaks 15 for the 2nd week in a row 9/18 - Regis Invitational- 10 personal bests highlight the beginning of the season. Gochal and Green start the season off right by taking the first 2 medals of the season. Murtagh takes 2nd in the junior race. Hamiliton paces the seniors as all run best times of the year. |
