2/8 CHSAA State Championships-  To win the CHSAA Championship it takes a taleted team who works hard, and a whole lot of luck.  Well we had both.  It has long been the dream of the Xavier Track team to win the CHSAA title and this year we can check that dream off the  bucket list.
The day started with Dante Perez running a personal best in the 3200 meter run.  In the 4x200 relay, we were trying to qualify our A team, but there was a pile up on the last baton pass and our A team ended up without the baton.  This is where the B team rose to the occassion and made the finals..  In the 3200 Meters seeded heat, JC Rice took 3rd place, but St. Anthony's got 7 points.  The next final that came in was the high Jump, Stephanos Cocoves found a way to score jumping 5'10" and grabbing 1.5 points for the cause.  Then the finals started rolling in, Charlie Lambert took the Long Jump in a US #2 jump od 24'6".  This is a personal best by over 18 inches.  he came up big at a time when his team needed it.  In the 1000 meters, Dominick Ronan showed the fire that the Knights possess as he took the lead and tried to win the 1000 from the gun.  Dom would grab 2nd place and 4 big points. Next event up was the 600, we were hoping for big points out of this one and that is what we got as Moe and Clarke come up for 2nd and 3rd and get 7 points. the next 2 events to be tallied was the Triple Jump where Matt Baker leaps to a personal best of 46'2 (ATX #2)  then JC Rice comes up big winning the 1600 Meters in dramatic fashion going with 450 to go and holding on for the win. At this point, Joe Onah qualified for the Hurdle finals where he finished 6th.  Going into the last 3 events, we trailed St. Anthony's 34-31.5.  On to the relays, we needed 16 guys to come up big. The 4x800 grabs 4th place and brings the team scores to 34-33.5.  St. Anthony's did not have a team in the 4x400, but we had two teams and they would take 1st and 4th grabbing 8 important points.  The 4x400 B team would put us ahead for good.  the 4x200 brought it home the victory when they took 4th in the final.  End result we have scored 43.5  When they announced the team scores, you could hear the Xavier Fight Song every where in the Armory

2/1 Frosh / Soph Intersectional Champs-The Freshman and Sophs finish up their season in fine fashion.  A long trip out to Suffolk country yields some good results.  The highlight of day is the Freshman 4x200 which storms to victory.  They take the CHSAA catholic Freshman State title.  Both The Freshman and Sophomores take 6th place.

1/31- Armory Invitational-  The 4x800 of Moe, Ronan, Clarke and Rice rewrite the Record book as they post a 7:53.19  The first time in School History that we get 4 guys under 2:00 in on race indoors.  Great legs by all, Bold move by Frank Clarke Watch The Video Here

1/30 Jesuits Champs- A late night meet yeilds some good times as we get this championship in during a snow shortened week.

1/25- NYCHSAA and Varsity City Championships- What a dominant performance. The first time the league combines the NY and BQ championships. Xavier proves beyond a doubt that we are the best Catholic team in the City. The meet starts off with a bang as Matt Baker and Brandon Efap go 1-2 to grab10 points.  Followed quickly, by Henry Camacho's tremendous 2:00 run in the 800.  The 4x400's go 1st and 4th.  Not to be outdone, the 4x200's qualify 2 teams for the finals.  The A team of Kairie-Onah-Cocoves-Santos-Shevett will go on and post the #3 ATX time.  Then things start rolling. Vazquez and Cipri score big points in the 3200, JC Rice sets the school record in the 1000 as he and Dominick Ronan go 2-3 in the 1000 By Now we have amassed 46 points (enough to win)  and then we start pouring it on. 2 guys score in the 600, 2 in the 300, 3 in the 400, 2 in the 1600, 2 in the high Jump, 2 in Long Jump,a 4x800 relay and 2 4x200 relays.  When it was over we had amassed 93.5 points in the sectionals, 81 points in the City champs.  We end up witha  margin of victoty of 38 points in bith championships.  The City Champ trophy was donated by St. Francis Prep in honor of their long time coach Jim McHugh.  Mr. McHugh, a Korean War veteran, was on hand to present the award to the seniors.

1/25- NYCHSAA Freshman, Weight Championships-  A great meet for the Freshman squad.  they were battling sickness and they ran tough.  They were able to finish 3rd in both The Sectionals and City champs. Val Ferraro had a banner day as he sets the Freshman record in the 400 and #2ATX in the 300. Dorian Ryan makes the ATX list for the 55 and Raphael Oettl posts the #2 ATX in the 3200 meters. A great day.

Hatheway drops a monster pr in the 400 break 53.
1/17-
Stanner Games- A Great day at the armory as school records fall.  The frosh SMR record was 1st to go followed by the 3200 Meters (3000 in route) and the varsity Long Jump. The Duo of Clarke and Moe run MONSTER 600's going #2and #3 ATX.  Lambert Soars to 22'11.5" All three milers hit big pr'sWhat a great tune up for the Championships Season.

1/14 Millrose Time Trials-  A great night for the races. The 4x800 and 4x200 make the Millrose Games. It is the 4th year in a row that the knights of 16th street will be running in this historic meet, but it is the 1st time that we qualfiy 2 relays.  The night started with the B and C 4x800 relays running some monster pr's. 6 of the 8 guys run pr's and 6 guys break 2:10 for the 800.  Then there was a wait for the A 4x800.  The senior heavy squad (3 seniors) ran with great poise as they knew that they just needed to be in the top  6 to make the meet.  henry Camacho ran a great lead off hitting 2:02, followed by a monster leg by Dominick Ronan (1:57)  Lou Vazquez keep us in the hunt with a strong 3rd leg (2:05 pr) and frank Clarke ran a great anchor leg (1:59) to grab the invite to the bug meet.  Just as the 4x800 finished it's warm down, it was time for the 4x200 to put on a show.  Charlie Lambert(22.0) blasted out of the gates and established a lead that the sprint squad would never give up.  Oliver Moe laid down a great leg (22.4) and passed off to Andrew Kairie (23.5)  Stephen Sgarlati would cruise home (23.7) in a time of 1:31.97 which got us the 3rd fastest time.  that gets us into the Millrose sprint relay for the First time (making history)  Congrats to both relays

11/15 NYS Federations-Our best finish ever.  The team sets a school record for the 5 man average on the course.  John Rice sets the school record for the course.  He becomes the 1st Knight to break 16 mins.  All 7 runners rank in the top 15 ATX.  Truly an inspirational race as two Knights (Raslowsky and Cipri) go down during the race, but they get up and finish strong.  We take 4th in the State.

11/15  Jesuits- A great end to the season as Ben Karam break 14:00 and Neil McEnery breaks 15:00

The Cross Country State Rankings are out and we are ranked 4th.  We have been ranked top 10 all season.

The Varsity 7 with their Silver Plaque.  Best Finish since 1931
11/9 CHSAA Championships- We knew that we had a tremendous task ahead of us, but we were determined to make history.  And that is what we did.  We qualify for the NY State Federations for the 7th time in school history.  4th year in a row.  ( 1999, 2000, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013) The day started with Tom Sternglass leading the JV C by winning the race.  Tom, who was coming off injury, too a chance and ran a great race  leading from wire to wire.  Also in the race we see Neil McEnery drop his time to 15:15.  This represents a 2:12 drop from his first race this year.  Neil shows that hard work pays off  The JV C would take 3rd with Newcomer Donavan Brady finishing as the 3rd scorer on the squad as he drops a huge PR
Next up was the Varsity.  A great three way race unfolded in the back as John Rice battled, Tucker and Lundy.  Behind him the rest of the Varsity 7 ran an inspired race.  Christian Raslowsky run #2 ATX with a 13:01 posting to take 7th over all.  This would be the fastest CHSAA Championship in League History. (ex  D'Emic took 2nd with a 13:07 posting in 2007) We run 13:10.65 for a 5 man average (this is the school record) top 6 guys were all in the top 21 and earn All Star status
JV A takes 3rd Place as a team.  Raphael Oetll paces the team with a sub 14 min posting.  Henry Camacho takes 7th place overall and we get 6 guys under 15 in this race  5 man average is 14:23
JV B takes 3rd as well.  The squad is lead by the two Freshmen Crorkin and Donahue who earn their varsity letters by breaking 15 mins (#3 and #5 ATX Frosh respectively) 3 guys go Sub 15 min in this race.( 5 man average 14:55)

11/1 CHSAA Freshman and Sophomore Championships-  The weather does not cooperate this weekend.  The rain just kept coming, all day.  The day started off with Raphael Oetll, Mike Crorkin and Aidan Donahue all place in the top 7 of the Frosh A Race. Raphael takes the win, becoming the 3rd Knight to win the individual title in the past 5 years. (e. Kaufmann and J Rice were the other two guys.  We get 3 guys under the magical 9 minute barrier, all 7 guys under 10 mins.  The Frosh A Team take 3rd as the team runs a great effort in the rain.  The Frosh B team is led by Kehoe as he breaks 10 mins giving us 8 under 10 on the day. The Frosh C team hangs in for a gutsy race.  The Freshman take 3rd in all 3 levels.
Up Next was the Sophs,  Giancarlo cipri runs a great easy race to be the First runner from Xavier to win the Soph Crown.  Will McCann runs a monster race and breaks 14:20.  The team comes up big and takes 3rd .  The Soph B team had overcome the loss of some key guys,  They are led by Musto and Dormer as the hit pr's to take 3rd place.
On the day there were 5 races and we took 3rd in all 5 races

10/25- NYCHSAA Sectionals and Varsity City Championships-  This meet would mark the first time that the NY and BQ sections would come together to crown a City Champion.  Since the intersectional meet is now considered the state Catholic Championship, the meet this past weekend would become the City Championship for the Varsity.
The day started off great as Rapahel Oettl ran a great race and posted the #2 ATX Frosh time (edging out Eliot Kaufmann). He would lead the Xavier Triumerate (Oettl, Crorkin, and Donoahue) to place 3 in the top 5 of the race.  Perez and McIntyre would each drop 40 seconds off their previous best to help the Freshman take the title for the 2nd time in school history.
The Frosh B squad would toe the line next and they would run inspired races lead by Brosnan, Vitarelli and Farage, all of whom ran personal best times..  The killer B's would take home the silver plaque on the day.
The Varsity stepped to the line for the 1st ever City Championships.  We knew going into the race that it was going to be a battle with Fordham Prep.  Last year we lost a close on (45-46), so we prepared that it might be that close again. We were able to get our 5 scorers across the line in the top 10 places, but fordham had 4 guys in the top 7.  It became a numbers ge and unfortuantely we came up on the losing side again 32-33.  Archbishop Molloy would take 3rd with 114 points.  So it was really just a dual meet.  Christian raslowsky would post the #2ATX (edging out Kevin D'emic who happened to be on hand to witness the race along woth Ryan Woerner)  We would have a 5 man Averag of 13;12  HEARTBREAKING.
On the broght side th JV was dominant, 12 guys in the top 25.  That is right Half of the top 25 guys wore the Maroon and Blue.  The top 7 JV were all under 15 mins, with Henry Camacho  taking the Gold.
So on the Day we had 2 Individual winners, 2 team golds and 2 team Silvers.

10/18  Nassau Coaches Invitational-  The last tune up before the Sectional Champs. the upperclassmen do not disappoint.  The Soph squad starts the day off by running a solid race.  They take 4th behind Will Mccann's 18;20.  The JV are up next and the take 2nd as a team with 3 guys in the top 5.  Henry Camacho leads the team with a 18:30 posting .  The Varsity were up next and they put on a show.  As the race entered the woods, we have 7 guys in the top 20. When they leave the woods, we have the top 4 spots and everyone in the top 8.  The team takes the race with a score of 16 points.  A dominant performance.  Their 5 man average is over 1;30 better than any other team in the meet

10/18  FP Frosh Relays-  The last time we won this meet, The Juniors were just born.  The year was 1997, Mr. Dormer had hair(yes it is true) and the Xavier knights won the FP Frosh relays for the 1st time.  This year the Freshman put on a display.  Mike Crorking led off with a great leg, staying right on the heels of Fordham's top runner.  Fordham had a 3 second lead.  The 2nd leg ran great as Perez was able to keep pace with Fordham , but their lead grew a bit.  McIntyre was game, but as he handed off Fordham had pushed their lead to 15 seconds.  Fordham prep was feeling pretty confident, but then Adian Donahue dropped the hammer on the Rams.  He chopped their lead in half. He picked up almost 8 seconds on the leading rams.  That is when Raphael Oettl went to work.  He crushed the course running the fastest time on the day.  He broke 5 mins and sealed the deal for the Knights.  Great team running.  The rest of the freshmen were pumped and they went right out and posted some tremendous times..  What a great way tpo get ready for the Championship Season

2014 NYCHSAA SOPH CHAMPS
10/15 NYCHSAA SOPHOMORE Championships-  For the 3rd year in a row we take the Soph Crown.  Giancarlo Cipri takes 1st(4th year in a row we take this honor) McCann takes 2nd, Kaufmann  4th to lead the charge.  RESULTS TO COME

10/10 All Hallows-  A great day as a majority of these brave runners hit PR's  RESULTS TO COME

10/3 Fordham Prep Development meet-  A meet after school is always tricky to pull off.  But the guys who raced Friday brought their A game. Every single Upperclassman hit a PR and 9 Frosh did as well (88% for you math guys)  Just some fantastic races as These guys show they are ready.  Michael Iaocobucci drops a 40 seconds PR to lead the Frosh, Vincent Ioviero adds to the fun with a PR of his own.  On the varsity side, Chris Delmond hits a 16:40 to lead the onslaught on the Top time list.  At this meet average improvements were around 1 min.  Huge effort.  Makes the afterschool meet worth while

10/5  Mayor's Cup-  It was a perfect day for a cross country race.  The sky was blue and it was cool.  That is when the Knights decided to heat up the course.  First up were the Freshmen, They placed 3 in the top four of the race, but lose a heartbreaker to Fordham Prep by 2 points. Raphael Oettl wins the Frosh A race with the fastest time for a freshman on the day.  Next up were the Varsity in the championship race. We set a number of records on the day, John Rice crushes his own school record by dropping a 12:24.82  (Which is the #4 time ever by a CHSAA runner.) John would lose to Marco Pompijl from Collegiate but the team would come up really big.  Christian Razlowsky posted the #3ATX and GianCarlo Cipri would post the #2 ATX SOPH time.  Dominick Ronan and Louis Vazquez would run huge pr's as well.  The Team posted a 13:10 5 Man average, Which is a 20 second improvement on the School Record. Rounding out the Top 7 was Ben Karam who almost broke 14:00 with a 1403 posting and Tom Sternglass who went sub 14:30.  Not to be outdone, The JV took the line next and put on a show taking 1st and 3rd Individually while crushing the competition.  The top 4 JV guys were under 15 minutes and the next 3 runners were seperated by 2 seconds.  Tremendous Pack Running..  On the Day we had 2 individual winners and 2 Team championships.  Great way to spend a Sunday in the Park.

9/27 McQuaid Invitational-  Our 21st consecutive trip up north brings us great results.  The day started off with tom Sternglass taking 5th place in the JV race.  He would lead 6 JV guys under 18 minutes.  The JV takes 2nd place to Upstate powerhouse Pittsford Mendon.  They set the JV school record for the 5 man average. Top 5 JV guys all in the top 25 runners in the race.  A great start to the day.  In the Varsity race, we faced the #3 team in NY Pittsford Mendon and our archrival Fordham Prep.  John Rice took a chance and ran to a school record of 15:10. John now has the 3 fastest times in school history at McQuaid. Christian Raslowsky and Giancarlo Cipri run a furious last mile and grab spots in the top 15. Dominick Ronan also breaks the magical barrier of 16mins.  It was a close team battle, and we came out victorious taking down Pittsford Mendon and Fordham Prep( 87-89-94).  Freshman Raphael Otell set the Freshman School Record for the McQuaid Course by breaking 17 minutes.

9/27 Xavier Invitational-  The Freshmen keep on rolling.  Michael Crockin takes 2nd in the Frosh A race in a personal best time of 9:12.  He leads the A team to a 2nd place finsh.  In The B race, Adian Donahue races to the front and takes the gold, and he leads the B team to a 2nd place finish as well. Ted Colter, Matt Mirto and Donovan Brady lead the Sophs to a 3rd place finish by virtue of their sub 17 minute performances.  Christian Tiong-Smith, Isaac Parker and Pat Sullivan lead the Juniors to a second place finish with their sub 15:40 performances.  Danny Swammy leads the senior squad with his 16:25 performance.

9/26  McQuaid Invitational-  Here are the qualifiers for McQuaid.  See Mr. Dormer if you have any questions

The XC State Rankings are out and we are #8 in the state.  Week 1

The Varsity completes the 4- PEAT
9/22- Jim Scott 2 Mile challenge-  We raced over the weekend and were felling a little tired, but that did not stop us from going out there and giving it our best shot.  The Varsity ran as a team and pulled out the victory.  It is our 4th in a row and 10th overall.  This means we take the all time series lead ( Xavier 10, Fordham 9, Regis 3).  We also Saw Frank Clarke set the JV meet record in the mile with a 4:51 which lead the JV to the team title. Raphael Otell continued his winning ways and set the Frosh Meet Record while the Frosh take the team title.  So that is 3 team titles and 2 Meet Records.  Not bad for a day when everyone was tired.  Hard Work does pay off.

The Hydra racing during the first mile
9/20 Warwick Wave Mania Invitational-  A great trip up north.  We went against the Preseason #4 and #5.  In a close battle we lost to Warwick(#4) and beat Mount Academy (#5).  John Rice starts his senior campaign with a victory and the Hydra made its prescence felt.

9/20-Regis Invitational  The Knights take on VCP to start the season.  The Frosh have the individual winners in both Freshman races. (Otell wins A , Crorkin wins B).  The Sophs post some great times, The Juniors run as a pack  Overall a great day at VCP
