The Manhattan college bound duo of Henriquez and D'Emic posted pr's to lead the team to a 6th Place finish.

5/19- CHSAA CHAMPS- A great end to the season. Most of the team ran some great races. The  Seniors were able to run some competitive races even though they had the prom the night before. The Sophomores posted some great times as they ran the #2 Soph 1600 meter relay time in school history. They just missed breaking 3:40.  Andres Botero had a banner day as he pr'ed in both the 800 and 1600 on the day (200.9 and 4:36.2) Kevin D'Emic posted the #2 ATX time in the steeplechase.  The highlight of the day was Pat Green placing 3rd in the Javelin with a toss of 154'7". The throw was good enough for #3ATX just 5 feet from the school record.

5/17 VARSITY AND WEIGHT SECTIONALS- A great day on Staten Island. (According to O'Dowd they are all great). The day started off with Alec Chyriwski grabbing gold in the Submidget 100 meter dash. He set the tone for the weight team as they collected 8 sectional titles to lead the team to the Sectional title to go along with the City Title. This included a 1,2,3 finish in the Junior 800 and a 1,2 in the Junior Shot put. The relays take gold in the Submidget 400 Relay, Junior 800 Relay and Junior 3200 meter relay. Steve Delianites retires from the weight competition undefeated in the 3200 meter relay. The Varsity competition kicked off with Nelson Rosa and Anthony Gochal both placing in the top 5 of the 400 Hurdles. Nelson becomes the 4th runner in Xavier's history to break the 60 sec barrier for this race. D'Emic repeats as the Sectional Steeplechase Champion. It was his 4th sectional title this year. Jordan Elie-Vieux and Andres Botero continue the scoring in the distance events with a 4th in the 3200 and 5th in the 1600 respectively. In the Field events, Andrew Powers tied for 3rd in the High Jump, while Keith Mesidor makes his way to the Varsity Long Jump Final with a prelim jump of 19'6". In the finals, Keith soared over the 20 foot barrier. In the Javelin, Wlazlowski and Green have huge pr's and finish 3rd and 4th with throws over 145'

5/14 NYCHSAA FROSH SOPH SECTIONALS:  Both the Freshmen and Sophomore 5th place with a balanced attack. The Freshmen score in 8 events with multiple scorers in 3 events. ( Triple Jump, Shot Put and 1600 meter run). Keith Mesidor wins the Long Jump with a 19'7 and the 200 meters with a 23.7. He also wins the MVP of the Freshmen meet.  Marc Fronterre lowers his school record in the 400 Hurdles to 62.2. Chris Kelly throws over 40' to grab 5th place, as he and Gabe Delaney score in the shot. Juan Martir and Tom Conroy score in the 1600 meter run.  The 1600 meter relay and the 3200 meter relays both come up big and score.  On the Soph side of the meet, Shane Brunner grabs 2nd in the 400 Hurdles, while Serge Efap grabs the Sectional title in the Triple Jump with a 39'8" leap. The Sophs score in 10 events, including all three relays. A tremendous improvement from a year ago.  Brian King becomes the latest member of the SUB 5 CLUB as he breaks the magical barrier for the first time

5/10 CHSAA Frosh/ Soph Champs-  A beautiful day at the stadium.  The Freshmen and Sophomores step it up big time. The day started off very well for both teams as Avery Sternglass took 3rd in the steeplechase and Mark Fronterre took 2nd in the 400 hurdles.  The scoring continued as Keith Mesidor and Serge Efap both take 2nd in their respective Triple Jumps.  Ciaran Finnegan pr'ed 3 times in one day as he grabbed 5th place over all with a toss of 95' in the Frosh Javelin. The Soph 1600 meter relay took 4th place as the ran 3:41 anchored by Sternglass' blistering 53.9 anchor leg.  The Freshmen were able to grab 7th place overall and the Sophs took 12th out of 33 teams. Here are some pictures from Frosh Soph City Champs.

5/4- Jesuit Champs- The day started off great with some fine performances in the field events. Keith Mesidor takes the JV Long Jump title by breaking the 19 foot barrier. John Wlazowski leads a Javelin 1-2-3 sweep on the Varsity Level. The Freshmen and Sophomores step up big time and are able to win the JV title on the last event of the day, scoring 12 points in the 200 to catch Fordham Prep. Overall a great meet for all the teams involved.

5/1 Ironman Invitational- The team is able to add to the record books with some good performances. Andres Botero run 4:14.9 for the 1500 (converts to 4:33.7 for 1600). The 800 Meter SMR logs the #2ATX in that event.

4/30- CHSAA Novice and Junior Midget Weight Champs- Steve Delianites finishes his Junior 3200 Meter relay career undefeated. His  relay victory leads the team to the title as the weight crew takes the new reinstated team title with a one point victory. A very appropriate result given Jim Scott's love for the weight divisions. Many second place finishes help us take the title.  The Novice squad has some good performances as they place 8th in the team scoring.

4/25 Penn Relays- The annual pilgrimage to Philadelphia turns in some positive results. The 4x100 was able to avoid being DQ'ed for the first time in three years.  Kevin D'Emic posts the fastest leg of the 4x400 with a 52.1. Thanks to Andrew Olsen '08 we have Video of the 4x100 and 4x400.

4/22 FP Dev Meet #2-The weather was once again perfect and the underclassmen responded with some tremendous personal best. The Freshman Trio of  Bulger, Fronterre, and Mesidor took 1-3 in two events. (Triple Jump and 400 Meters). The Sophs responded by having 4 runners under 5:15 for the 1600 meters. John Wlazlowski uncorked a 20 foot pr in the Javelin by throwing 135' to take 2nd place and Pat Green threw 123' for 4th. Some great individual performances.

4/21 Boston Marathon-Two Xavier Alumni trekked to Boston to run in the Historic Boston Marathon this year. Matt Febles and Chris Febles of the famous Febles Clan posted some impressive times

4/19- CB West Relays- The day was beautiful, the sky was clear and the times were fast.  The underclassmen got a taste of big time varsity competition. Good performances all around.

4/15 FP Dev Meet #1- On a beautiful spring day, the Freshmen and Sophomores run some great times. The sophs (Bruno and King) go 1,2 in the 800. Not out be outdone by this display, The Freshmen (Mesidorr and Fronterre) go 1,2 in the Long Jump and 2,3 in the Shot Put (Delaney and Warren). Personal bests abound as the season really gets going for a majority of the underclassmen.

4/12 Nanuet Relays- A great day up north. Col Campbell shows up and the underclassmen decide to impress him. Some tremendous races buy the lower levels. The day started off great as the 3x400 Hurdle relay took silver medals in the course of setting the school record. Gochal, Rosa and Fronterre all hit pr's. The 6400 meter relay ran tough with a tremendous anchor by Botero.  The 3200 meter relay had a great lead off by Dan Lee who cracked the 2:10 barrier for the first time. In the field events, youth also dominated the picture. SOphs Ferrer and Hayes made their varsity debuts competing very well, but it was the freshmen who stepped it up.  Keith Mesidor recorded a 17'3" jump in Long Jump and the throwers Delaney, Kelly and Warren combined to represent Xavier in the Varsity Shot and Discus relays. Setting the Freshmen school records in both events.

4/7 2nd Annual Dual Meet vs Fordham Prep.  In this years addition of the dual meet we were able to bring a much larger squad than last year.  There were some impressive results.  The Freshman Shot Putters continue to perform quite well with some great tosses of the 8lb shot. The 2x35 "Drag Race" was a great event for Xavier as we swept 1st in all three divisions.  Anthony Gochal had a banner day, winning the 180yd Low Hurdles, The 2x35 Drag Race and anchoring the combo 4x400 to victory.  Overall a successful day at the Prep.

4/5 Mount Relays- It is always great when a season starts out like this.  The weather, which was supposed to be rainy and cold, was perfect (warm and sunny). There were some great performances to kick off the season.  Evan Ferrer, who arrived at the meet late due to train trouble, had no problem setting the outdoor school Pole Vault Record with just 2 jumps. The Varsity 3200 meter relay took 1st place for the second year in a row.  The B team also won the 2nd heat.  The Javelin throwers over came the muddy run way to take 2 of the top 6 spots.  Anthony Gochal and Nelson Rosa started off the season with personal best in the 400 hurdles.  The underclassmen long hurdlers were very impressive with the way they began the season.  All in all a very successful 1st meet of the season.

4/4 Dual Meet and Mount Relays- Check here to see what is on Tap for the weekend. There is a change to the date of the Dual Meet.  It will be on Monday. Everyone is competing.

Andres Botero as he leads the 1000 meters

CHSAA Champs
- The 81st annual edition of this classic meet saw some great individual efforts as the team rallied to put forth some of it's best performances of the year. Andres Botero overcame an officals mistake and ran the 5th fastest time in school history in the 1000 meter run. Andres just missed winning a medal as he lead the 2nd heat from wire to wire and finished .17 seconds out of the medals. Kevin D'Emic ran a truly inspiring race in the 1600 meters, forced to do most of the work, Kevin posted one of the gutsy races ever seen by a Xavier runner. Kevin took 5th place posting a time of 4:25.16 for 1600 meters. The day also saw the underclassmen serve notice that they are ready to step up and take their shot at the Varsity competition in the league. Serge Efap and Keith Mesidor both grabbed a school record. Keith reset his freshman long jump record, and Serge took down Jerrey Alcoser's Soph triple jump record with a leap of 39'0". Serge was fouled on his last jump ( a questionable call), but that jump was said to be over 40'. The underclassmen impress in the 1600 as all the sophs pr ( Conlon, Welsh, and Sternglass).

2/4 Varsity Classic- In the final tune up before CHSAA Champs, the team runs some great times.  The DMR gets #2 ATX with a 10:36.2 posting.

DeSalvo and Manciameli capped off the day with pr's in the 800.  The Freshmen were lead by a number of school records.  Mark Fronterre got the 600 School record by over 3 seconds and Keith Mesidor jumped a foot beyond the old record in the long jump with a leap of 17'11". The Frosh were able to place 7th out of the 35 teams in the league.

1/27 photo by winged foot fotos
NYCHSAA SECTIONAL CHAMPS- Kevin D'Emic paces the team with 2 individual sectional titles. D'Emic wins the 1000 meters and 1600 meters in the same fashion. He lead from wire to wire and won the MVP of the meet. The Freshmen were lead by Mark Fronterre, who lead the 1600 meter relay to victory and was able to grab a silver medal in the triple jump. The Junior Weight 3200 meter relay also grabs the sectional title. Mark Fronterre was able to get one of the most hallowed Freshmen school records this weekend.  He took down the 400 meter record that had stood since 1977. (previous Record Holder- F. Gaspard.)  A tremendous effort by Mark. Congratulations

1/12 Stanner Games- Records Fall.  Mark Fronterre takes the year old Frosh Triple Jump Record.(former Record held by Serge Efap). Kevin D'Emic waited a full year to get this record and this year he would not be denied as he takes the Varsity mile record with a time of 4:25.23.( former record held by John Traugott'99). Lots of top ten performances.

The Weight division of the team continues the strong tradition of winning as the junior 3200 meter relay takes gold for the 2nd year in a row, with Randy Subramany's come from behind win at line. The highlight of the Varsity events was the victory by the DMR with a NY State leading time of 10:52.

CROSS COUNTRY SEASON 2007

11/17 NYS Federation Championships- For the 3rd time in school history Xavier made the trip to Wappengers Falls as a team. 11/10 CHSAA CHAMPS-  A great effort by the Varsity. Senior Captain Kevin D'Emic gets the school record with a time of 13:07. This breaks the record held by Matt Redden '03.  (Matt also set his record at CHSAA Champs.)  Kevin also posts the highest individual finish by a Xavier Runner at Cross Country Champs. The rest of the varsity set up and run as a squad enabling the Varsity to get the bid to the State Federation Championships next weekend at Bowdin Park. Despite being picked to finish 8th by CHSAA guru Mr. Buckley, the team rallied and believed in themselves and each other and grabbed the 5th place slot.  It is the 3rd time in school history that a team has qualified (1999, 2000) for the Federation Championships.  Not to be outdone, the JV A team posted a 6th place finish. Crockett and Conlon broke 15 for the 1st time this season, bring the total of Xavier Harriers to break the 15:00 barrier to 10 for the season.
