OUTDOOR SEASON

6/6 Team Dinner in Larkin Hall. Mass at 6 p.m. Dinner and Awards to follow. Tickets are available in the athletic office. $15 dollars a ticket.

6/3 Eastern States- The SMR medals at this end of the year meet. Botero hits 2:02

5/15 Varsity City Champs- A great effort on a day with horrible weather. The 400 relay hits the fastest time in 3 years. Kevin MAstro and Terrence Green become the 13th and 14th runners to break the 5 minute barrier for the year.

5/12 Varsity and Weight Sectionals- The relays runs some fast times. A number of sectional champs. Bernstein, Lee, Hayes and The Junior 3200 relay take gold at weight sectionals to lead the team to 2nd Place. Liam Navin sets the Frosh Javelin record with a 115' toss that also captures 1st place.  Kevin D'emic recovers from a fall to take the steeplechase.  The 400 Relay scores again to keep the streak alive.

5/9 Frosh/Soph Sectional Championships-
So reads the sign at the Metro North station, as the Freshmen and Sophomores compete in their sectionals championships.  It was All Aboard for fast times and tough races as they finish up their class competitions for the year.  Dom Brockway was like a steam engine was he ran reserve splits in the 3200 meters. (5:27, 5:02). Mike Marczak was like an express train as he runs the #5ATX Soph time in the hurdles. Next Stop Varsity Sectionals.

5/5 Frosh/Soph Intersectional Championships- Some big pr's as the underclassmen begin their championship season. Day started off great with Liam Navin throwing over 104' in the Javelin and Dom Brockway taking 4th in the Steeplechase with a 10:34. Congrats to Serge Efap who took 2nd in the Frosh Triple jump with a leap of 35'7"

4/29 Jesuit Champs- A valiant effort as the Varsity takes 2nd place. Many great performances. The 12th Man breaks 5 for the year as Andrew Powers goes under the barrier in his 1st mile of the year. 

4/27-28 Penn Relays- The 1600 relay runs the fastest time of the year, as the 400 relay lights the track up.

4/25 1st Annual Duel Meet vs. Fordham - Odd distance events, Steeplechase without water, 2x35 meter sprints all on a square track.  This meet had it all.

4/21     
Suffolk Coaches- The day was highlighted by Andrew Powers going over 6' in the high jump and by gold medals for Dom Brockway and Dennis Devivo.  Devivo ran a perfect race Splits (60.9)(61.2) to capture the gold. Brockway ran reverse splits to pull away at the end for a 4 second victory in the 3200 meter run.

4/14 Nanuet Relays-  A great performance up north as the team takes 5th overall scoring in 8 events. Highlights are the 2nd place finished of the 4x800, 3x400 Hurdles, and the triple jump relay.  The team scores in all jumping relays we entered.  Botero has a great day pr'ing in the 800 and 400. CHSAA Relay Carnival - The 3x400 Hurdle record falls as Doug Moringiello leads the charge. The DMR takes 2nd place with a Time of 11:00.  Submiget relay is victorious taking gold, while all weight relays medal once again.

Iona Invitational
- A cold day turns out some hot time as D'emic and Devivo got 1-3 in the 1500 running times equaling 4:29 and 4:30 respectively. Tesoriero steps up and runs the Steeplechase. Bonamassa pr's in both shot ad discus going 43 and 109. Bonamassa throws 43'3.5 in the shot for a huge pr.

4/3- Easter Practice schedule.  Here is what we are doing over break.If you are going to miss any meets or practices please let Mr. Dormer know asap.

3/31- Mount Relays- The outdoor season starts off with a big win in the 3200
meter relay as the quartet of D'Emic, Devivo, Fallon and Botero rack up the 
gold medals.  Most of the team turn in solid performances. If you missed the meet you need to see Mr. Dormer ASAP

INDOOR SEASON

3/9-3/10 National Scholastic Indoor Championships- The season ends on a  high note as the DMR posts the fastest time of the year, The 4xmile runs #2ATX, and the Shuttle Hurdle relay sets the school record for the 220 meter relay record over 4 hurdles.

3/3 NY State Championships - Kevin D'Emic went up north and represented Xavier  at States in one of the toughest fields ever assembled.  Kevin ran a great race

3/3 AAU Meet- Armory- A few brave souls took it upon themselves to run a few races at the Armory at this all comers meet.  Steve Delianites ran a pr in the 3000 meters and Xavier swept the long jump.

2/24- Manhattan College Relays- With a vacation ravaged crew of under 40 athletes, Xavier took 3rd place at the 29th Annual Manhattan College relays.  The Freshman scored big with two teams medaling in the 1600 relay.  Also 3 Freshman, Ryan Cuffe, Ralph Henriquez, and Chris Velez all captured their Varsity Letters by placing in Varsity events.  Cuffe was part of the 3rd place Shuttle Hurdle Relay, while Henriquez and Velez took 5th place in the Varsity Triple Jump relay.  Overall a good performance to wrap up indoors for a vast majority of the team.

CHSAA City Champs- A great day as the Knights put forth a tremendous effort. The day started with the 800 Meter relay running the fastest time this year and the B team running 1:42. Dennis Devivo proved how tough he is when he lead the 1000 for 4 laps pushing the pace. The high point of the day was how well the team did in the 1600 meters.  Major pr's by a vast majority of the 20 runners who ran the mile.  Kevin D'Emic qualified for the NY State with his 3rd place finish in the 1600.  

2/5 Varsity Classic- A good tune up for CHSAA Champs as the DMR run #3ATX.

2/4 CHSAA Frosh and Soph Champs-  Outstanding day for the Freshman and the Sophomores.  The day started off with Dom Brockway taking 2nd in the 3200 m run with a13 second pr and Josh Steinberg taking 5th in the 55 Hurdles.  Good things continued as the Frosh 800 meter relay qualified for the finals in 5th position and they finished 2nd.  The day ended on a high note as the Soph 3200 relay set the school record and grabbed silver medals. 

1/31 Metro Invite- A tune up for some of the team sees Kevin Mastro and Aamen Nsouli pr in the 1600.

1/28 NYCHSAA Frosh/Weight/ Varsity Championships.- The day started off with tremendous promise as the Freshmen rally for their best meet as a team as 12 of them score in 6 events.  The Freshmen take 5th over all with a number of school records falling( 300 meters, Pole Vault, Triple Jump) The Weight team continued with a great effort to take 2nd as a team. They medal in all the relays, taking 1st in the Submidget 400 meter relay and Junior 3200 meter relay.  The Varsity picks up where the Freshmen left off. Devivo and D'EMic claim sectional title in their respective events(1600,3200). Dennis Abrue jumps his way to a pr and a silver medal. The underclassmen hit a number of ATX's

1/19 Jesuit Champs- A solid effort be the whole team nets Xavier 2nd place at the Jesuit Champs that saw 5 Jesuit teams compete for the first time in 15 years. A good number of underclassmen step up to help the Varsity this year.  Encouraging results with Sectionals a week away.

1/13- Stanner Games- And then there were 10. Another 2 Xavier runners break the 5 minute barrier as the team steps up.  Kevin D'Emic runs 4:26.10 for the Mile for the #2ATX. Serge Efap and Brendan Murphy claim Frosh School Records in their jumping events.

1/12 Midterm Madness- A great showing after a day of difficult testing.  Terrence Green pops a big pr in the 1600 meters.

Millrose Time Trials
- A pretty good display. Kevin D'emic breaks 2 minutes in dramatic fashion.  Dennis Devivo drops his pr to 2:03. All Around a solid effort.

1/7 NYCHSAA Soph Champs- The undermanned Soph squad but up a valiant effort at Soph Sectional champs.  Most team members ran tough races. Mike Marczack hits a big pr in the triple jump, Dom Brockway runs negative splits in the 3200 m run (5:28, 5:19), Jose Miranda and Eric Rodeschin score in their respective races. Overall a good team effort.

1/7 Hayes Games- The Varsity has some good performances as the season progresses.  D'Emic and Devivo go 1-2 in the 1000 meters with a dominant performance.  Tesoriero and D Abrue score in their events(3200, triple jump).  The freshman 1600 relay takes 3rd. Serge Efap continues to score in the triple jump. He has medaled every time he has done the event. Mike Batten runs a big pr in the 1000.

12/30 CHSAA Novice Weight Champs. The underclassmen step up in a big way. Eric Rodeschin takes silver in the 600 with a 1:33 clocking.  Serge Efap is NOVICE CITY CHAMP in the Triple Jump with a leap over 34'. The Upperclassmen helped out with Zach Tesoriero and Kevin Mastro scoring in the 1000 meter run (2nd and 5th).  Andrew Olsen and Joe Caputo make the finals of the Long and Shot respectively.  In the Varsity Races, Vincent Esposito and Joe Turuseta make their debut on the Varsity 800 Meter Relay in fine fashion.  The 3200 Relay A team takes 2nd place and the B team breaks the 9 minute barrier, with 6 of the 8 runners recording personal bests. Overall a very positive meet for the team.

12/27 Christmas City Relays-  The trip to PA is very successful. The DMR was dominate. Devivo bided his time and opened up a lead, Gochal fought to hold the lead, Botero took control of the race and we never looked back. D'Emic put it away and opened a 100 meter lead. 

12/23- Grinch Games- A great performance by the milers as 4 more get under 5 minutes. The team picks up 39 medals as most of the relays score.

12/20- 
Jump Fest- The Xavier Vaulters, YES VAULTERS, open their season with Joe Turuseta setting the soph school record at 7'6".  Serge Efap picks up a bronze in High Jump and a silver in triple jump. Anthony Gochal breaks 36' barrier in triple jump

12/16 Bishop Loughlin Games- Some great times against some tough competition.  All four Xavier Athletes pr in their respective races.

12/17 Ignatian Invitational- The balance of the squad goes to Fordham for the first in their series of meets. Some good times in the 1600 as a majority of the team goes " up" in distance.

12/18- Here is the schedule for next week and the Christmas break. It is important that if you are going to miss anything over break you notify Mr. Dormer immediately.

 

12/16-12/17- Here are the races for this weekend.  Make sure you know where you are going. Shot Putters are competing on Saturday at Fordham Prep.  All others are competing on Sunday At Fordham UNIVERSITY.

 

12/9 CHSAA Relay Carnival: The day started with Ryan Cuffe grabbing the 1st medal by a Freshmen this indoor season. The day ended with the DMR get 5th place in a very competitive race.  In between these two races we saw some great efforts by the Xavier team. The Weight team medaled in 3 events, highlighted by the Junior 3200 Relay's win by over a minute.  The freshmen showed great resolve overcoming some miscues to run some impressive times. (Esposito's 26.6 and Batten's 5:37). The Sophomore ran tough as was evident in the 3200 meter relay which ran a 9:01 (just 9 seconds from the school record).

12/2 Ram Relays- A limited squad saw action this weekend with some encouraging results.  The Sophs take home 8 medals to kick start the season. Eric Rodeschin breaks 60 to start the season.  The Freshmen run tough with Justin Montero running 62 for the 400 and 27 for the 200. The whole team will see action this coming weekend as we open up at the Armory

CROSS COUNTRY SEASON

11/18 Jesuits Champs- The season ends on a high note as the team runs some great times to end the season.  Check out the times from the season.


11/11 CHSAA Champs - The Varsity cracks the top ten, as Kevin D'Emic takes 5th overall.(4th fastest time at Xavier).Andres Botero leads the JV to a 10th place finish. A tremendous showing by the Alumni as they take 2nd and 7th. Also a big thank you goes out to Dave Carrieras and Lukas Sito who show up to cheer the team on.

11/5 NYC Marathon- Some of the members of the Xavier Track family run in the largest marathon in the world.  John Traugott runs a pr in 2:28 placing 15th for American Men and 48th overall. 

 

11/4- Frosh Soph City Champs
A great day as the underclassmen step up and run big.  The Sophs take 5th in the A race and 4th in the B race. The Freshman run great and take top 10 in all 3 races.    Click Here for More Pictures

 

 


10/30- NYCHSAA Championships- Although the race was delayed due to weather, the Knights showed their medal running some fast times on Monday afternoon. All 7 varsity runners medaled as did 8 JV runners.  The JV lead  by Jordan Elie-Vioux took 2nd place.  The Freshman had 2 runners break 10 mins as all 5 scores crossed the line within 23 seconds of each other. 15 freshman hit pr's.  Pictures to come.

10/21- Eastern States Championships and Molloy meet-A great day for a cross country meet as a majority of the team hits some big pr's. The Varsity hits a 5 man average of 14:17 and the JV A team takes 4th with a 15:09 5 man average. Dom Brockway hits a 15 second pr to break 14:30. 20 guys under 16 mins on the day.

10/21- Fordham Prep Frosh Relays-The freshmen compete in the historic Fordham prep relays. 5 men teams make their way around the freshman course.

10/18 NYCHSAA SOPH Champs- Miranda, Brockway and Eli-Vioux break 15 minutes as they lead the team to a 4th Place finish. COMPLETE RESULTS

Manhattan College- The Freshman race in their biggest race of the year. Over 300 runners in the race.  Taylor Conlon hits a pr to pace the team. Top 3 medal

10/12- All Hallows Invitational.  Jordan Elie-Vioux takes 3rd with a 15:12 pr. Andrew Olsen breaks 16 minutes.  Muratore leads 3 freshmen under 12 minutes. ( Mastrangelo and DeSalvo).  Big drops on a perfect day for a cross country race

Disney Invitational
-The trip down south yields some great results as the team battles large races and the Florida heat to turn in great performances .  The Varsity puts the top 3 in the the first 30.  JV A have 3 together in the top 10 and almost pull off the victory. The JV B place in the top 6 of the race. JV team shows off the hardware.

9/30
McQuaid Invitational- 8 runners break 18 minutes for the annual pilgrimage to the Great North.  The sophomore team and the JV place 7th in some very competitive races. Kevin D'Emic leads the Varsity running 16:08 for the 3 mile course. Mr. Dormer and Jose Miranda get some good pictures of the races.

9/29 FP Development Meet- 4 more juniors get under 16:30 as Mike Murray hits 16:00 in his first race of the season. The triumvirate of McGinn, Batten and Conlon continue to improve and lead the Freshman as 6 get under 11 minutes.

9/25 Jim Scott 2 mile Challenge- The annual Jesuit showdown in the Bronx. Kevin D'Emic becomes the 10th Xavier runner to take the individual title. John McGinn lead the Xavier Freshmen against the Rams of Fordham.  Dom Brockway runs 5:00 in the J.V. mile.

9/23 Xavier Invitational- The largest edition ever of the Xavier XC spectacular saw a course changed by a rugby game.  The new longer course yields some impressive pr's. The Top 3 Freshman run as a pack within 5 seconds of each other.  Over 50 Xavier harriers cross the finish line.

9/16- Regis Invitational- A great start as 20 personal bests are hit.  Mike Batten paces the freshman with 3 under 10:40.  Jose Miranda breaks 15 minutes for the first time. Seniors run as a pack as 4 get under 16 minutes.
