INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD 2022-23

3/10-3/11 Nike Indoor Nationals- A great end of the season.  Two relays in the top 10 of the nation. D'Angelo Brown sets the SOPH school record in the 800 Meters


3/4 NYS Federation Championships Matt Mccabe runs a tough race as he represents us at the State Meet

2/18 CHSAA Varsity Championships Our qualifiers run/Jump with the states best.  The highlight of the day was Matt McCabe's bold run at the state title in the 3200 meters.  Her runs a life time best breaking 9:30 for the first time and takes 2nd place to qualify for the NYS Federation meet.  Our 4x800 relays post our fastest times of the year (All underclass men on these two relays)


2/11 CHSAA Freshmen and sophomore Championships The future looks bright as we see some balanced scoring across these two classes.  We take home a few State titles on both levels.  We sweep the 1600 Meter title, Take the Frosh 4x400 relay title and the Soph 4x800 Meter title. Sam Ryland takes the 1000 meter title as a frosh  All in all a good day at OB

2/4 OB Invite- final tune up as we get ready for the championships to come in Feb.

1/29 NYCHSAA Varsity Championships- Some great times as the young knights get a taste of the varity level competition.  D'Angelo Brown claims the city title in the 1000 Meters.  Sebastian Taveras brings home some points in the field events as he spearheads the jumpers getting back into the points at big meets.  The distance squad continues its pack running with 3 guys scoring in the 3200 meters.  On the sprint side, The relays shine as the 4x200 makes the finals posting our fastest time of the year

1/20-21- Armory Hall of Fame Meet- The Sophomore DMR record goes down as the quartet of Wong-Opalka-Baynes-Gill run 11;12  The Varsity DMR posts a sub 11:00 time


1/15 Stanner Games- A great meet with some good times, Wyatt Flett sets a personal best in the 3200 meter run, and Matt Mccabe posts an indoor PR. Some hot times in the relays as well.


1/14 NYCHSAA Frosh and Soph Championships- A great day in Staten Island( aren't they all) The day starts off with the Knights taking 1-2 in the soph 3200(Gill and Teiling)  and 1st in the Frosh 3200 (Falcon)  We follow this with a 1-2 finish in the 800 meters(Ryland and Duncan) and a hot time in Soph 1000 meters(Opalka)  Meanwhile in the Shot we have some big performances with pr's Jeudy takes 2nd with a 39' throw and Williams pr's with a 39-10.75 throw.  The milers step up big time as Surgue takes the Sectional Crown and Wong drops a huge 12 second personal best.  The Race of the day was when D'Angelo Brown drops a school record in the 600 meters with the #1 time in USA for sophomores.  The relays then step up, The frosh 4x400 scores 3 relay times, and the 4x800  take City titles in both Frosh and Soph divisions.  Over all a great day as we take 2nd in the City for both Freshman and Sophomores.

1/7 FP Meet- A great rust buster after the Christams break, sees the Sprint squad run some hot times on a very slow track


1/7 Freedom Games The milers drop some fast times with 6 guys going sub 4:44

12/30 CHSAA Novice Champs A very thin group of guys take 2nd place in the Novice Championships,  So great races by the distance guys as we place 5 guys in the top 10 of the 1000 meters


12/18-Jesuits A great return of a great tradition.  Some fast times

12/17-12/18- Hall of Fame/ -  Events will be posted Wednesday Some varsity sprinters will compete Saturday ta Hall of fame meet Everyone else will compete at Jesuits


12/10 CHSAA Relays- Our speed and Power guys get things rolling for the season as we see the field events and hurdlers enter the season.  The freshmen sprinters go 2-4-5 in the 300 meters.  Jeudy takees home the first shot put medal of the season.  Emmatty wins the first hurdle medal of th season as well.  Varsity Sprinters show their depth as we have a large number of guys running the 55 and 300  Gottschalk and Hernandez post personal bests in the long jump.

12/3 RunningLane Cross Country Championships-


11/19 NY STATE Federation Championships- All the experts in the state had us as an afterthought.  We were supposed to finish a distance 8th place and be happy that we were invited.  I guess no one told us because the Knights came to run and boy did they run. 6 Guys under 18 mins at Bowdin is an impressive feat. We had 3 guys cross the line within 3 seconds which just shows how balanced we were.  The Knights take 4th at Feds  taking home a plaque for the 5th time in School History

11/19 Jesuit Championships- A great way for most people to end the season  A really cold day at VCP made a little warmer by some hot race times  JV A steps up and runs in the Varsity taking 5th  JV B takes 2nd in the JV race  once agin the Knights show their depth


11/12 CHSAA Varsity State Championships- A great day at VCP as the Knights take silver in the Varsity and JV races across the board.  Solid races earn us our 12th Feds berth in a row (15th overall) Sophomores Aaron Gill and D'Angelo Brown take 1st team Varsity All League honors by merit of their 6th and 7th place finishes. 6 Guys in the top 22 of the league

11/5 CHSAA Freshman and Sophomore State Championships- The Freshmen come to race as they win convincingly over a Chaminade squad  Once again people step up big at the right time  Tim Surgue has the race of the season that puts the team race away  A massive pr at the biggest race of his season  that is what champions do  The soph Squad makes a valiant effort, but they were missing 3 of their top 6 and as a result they take 2nd place.  Great races by all



10/29 NYCHSAA Varsity and Freshman City and Sectional Championships- History is made for the Knights as they take 3 more City championships and add 3 more indivdual title holders. That is right a clean sweep of team and individual titles ( 4 city titles, 4 Sectional titles)  Jayden Falcon leads the Freshmen to a convincing win with a huge pr for the VCP.  Matt McCabe was up next as he ran a great race and Senior Wyatt Flett stepped up big time taking 3rd  Soph Reid baynes grabs the JV title to complete the sweep,( Falcon-Frosh Champ, Gill Soph Champ, Baynes JV Champ McCabe Varsity Champ)


10/22 Ed Bowes XC Invite- The final tune up before the championship season sees the JV DOMINATE they go 1-10 to leave no doubt. The Varsity also throws down some impressive times to take the win


10/15 FP Frosh relays- The Frosh A relay takes the Title at this annual XC classic  Some fast times as the team tries out the Xc relay for the first time  The B and C teams post some impressive times to show our depth


10/12 NYCHSAA Sophomore City and Sectional Championships- The Sophomores throw down an impressive team Victory as they capture our first City Cham[ionship of the season  Gill Wong and Brown go 1-2-3

10/8 Manhattan College Invite-On a perfect fall day, The Xavier Knights stormed the 5oth Annual Manhattan College meet.  first up were the Freshman, who lead off with 2 guys breaking 9 mins (Falcon and Duncan) and 2 more guys breaing 10 (Hough and Kelley). Some Great Racing by the young knights.  The Sophs were up next and they put on a clinic of team running as 5 guys crossed the line in 2 seconds.  This would propell them to the team title on the day.  Ladd Cropper paced the team with a huge pr of 15:17.  The JV faced some of the toughest competition it has seen in a while and they ran tough, Suttlerin and E Woodruff both break 15 mins to lead the squad.  Then the Varsity toed the line, and what a race they had. 5 personal bests and we now have 5 guys under 14 for the season.  For the first time in School History, we win a Varisty race at Manhattan.


10/7 All HAllows Invite-  Running races after school can be difficult, but we had some great performances at the All Hallows meet. Matt Gordon runs a HUGE personal best of 10:15 to lead the Frosh Squad. 3 guys under 11 Mins, 8 guys under 12 mins  a great way to start the long weekend.  Next up was Nick Hernandez who drops a 16:10 to lead 10 guys under 18 mins


10/1 McQuaid Invitational at McQuaid- As always a great trip to the North country.  For the 28th time in the last 30 years we go to McQuaid.  The JV takes the win paced by incredible performances by Jack Taylor, Eamon Woodruff and Caden Humphhries who go 2,4,5 in the JV race.  The Freshmen and Sophomore race sees the team take 3rd lead by jayden Falcon, Ladd Cropper and Luca Blankenbeuhler, who all place in the top 20 of the race.  The Future is bright for the knights,  In the Varsity race, the most competitive race in NY state this year.  The Varsity knights take 5th place behind the trio of McCabe Gill and Brown.  Wyatt Flett has a career day and Sam Ryland grabs the Frosh School record for the McQuaid course


10/1 Brewster Invite at Brewster High School- While the rains came, it actually did not slow down the Knights.  The young Knights take the course in Brewster and post some impressive times, Jack Tully paces the Freshmen to a 7th place finish.  Ben White,Kieran Hegde, and Danny Uruchima lead the JV to a 2nd place finish.  They also beat a number of Varsity teams on the Merge.


9/24 Xavier Invitational at OceanBreeze- The Knights take home the win at our Home invitational The Freshmen are lead by Sugrue and Tully and take 2nd place.  The Sophs are led by Reid Baynes' 2nd place finish with Blankenbhueler and Cropper finishing clse behind.  Matt McCabe , Aaron Gill and D'Angelo Brown finish 2,4,5 to lead the Varsity team to victory

9/17 Regis Invitational at VCP - The season opens up with some fast times.  The Freshmen take the win and the Sophs, Juniors and Varsity all Place top 3 as a team
