OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD 2022

4/22-4/23 NY Relays- Great tune up as we head into the championship part of the season.  Hawkes and Corcoran both get into the Xavier record books with some fast running.  Relays impress with some great times.  Matt Mccabe drops a 9:50 (20 second Life time best) to place 10th over all.

4/23 Big Blue Invite The Freshman and Sophomore atke Staten Island by storm.  Posting some fast times and shake the rust of vacation off.


4/20 Jesuits The Knights take both the Varsity and JV Titles in this annual clash of Jesuit Brothers. We pick up 12 Individual titles and get some very solid performances.

4/14 FP Devlopment Meet- 18 guys under 2:20 and 57 guys run the 400 Meters. we also See our first 2 high jumpers of the season as Diaz clears 5'0" in his first meet.

4/2 All American Classic- The Seniors travel down to Virginia to start their season.  They take 3rd place against the best that the State of Virginia can muster up. 

4/2 Valley Stream Invite-While The seniors were away the rest of the team travel out to Nassau County to take on the best section 8 has to offer.

3/27 CHSAA Opener Good weather brings some good performances to start the season. 

INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD 2021-202



3/5 NYS Federation Campionships-Personal bests and Federation medals are what we were after and we got them.  We take 5 Federation medals, a #2ATX in the 3200 and a #3ATX in the 1600 relay.  The 1600 relay takes 2nd place overall and wins their heat.  A great way to end the regular season  Up next Nationals

2/26 Oceanbreeze Invite- Final Tune up for the States and Nationals


2/19 Varsity Intersectionals
1 point It came down to 1 point  The knights take 2nd as we score in 10 of the 15 events in the meet. Highlight of the meet was the State championipship in the 4x400 meter relay (seeded 3rd going into the event) The knights put the hammer down as Sal Barretta drops a 49.24 anchor leg to ensure victory.  Percy Moser takes 2nd in the 1600 meters with a pr. Mikey Hawkes runs a #2ATX time in the 3200 meters. Mattihas Oettl runs a pr to take 3rd in the 1000 meters. Dan Carolan runs a pr in the 600 breaking 1:24.  Luke Alexander and Ratu Navoti both throw big and score in the shot, Finn MacAuley and Steve Grgas grab some much needed points with their 4th and 3rd place finishes respectively.  Once again a great showing by the Knights

2/13 Varsity Sectionals and City Champs A dominant performance by the Knights at the rescheduled Sectional /City champs  The Knights score 75 points to take the win.  We sweep the 1600 meters win the 1600 meter relay and 800 meter relay  2nd in the 3200 Meter relay We score in 12 out of the 15 events.

2/12 Frosh Soph Intersectionals- We collect 3 state titles ( Navoti in the Soph Shot put and Brown in the Frosh 600 meters and 1000 Meters) The Freshmen take 3rd place and the Sophomores finish in the top 10.  Fast times by everyone


1/29 Millrose Games
Not even a snow storm can stop the Knights from dropping a hot 4x400 time


1/22-23 New Balance Games
- A great meet as we qualify for Nationals in 3 events. (3200 meter run, DMR and SMR) and the young knights come up big on Friday night as the Frosh soph score medals in the field events.

1/15 Frosh Soph Sectionals/City Champs- The Freshman and sophomores score some big points ( 7 relays score so that is 28 guys scoring)  D'Angelo Brown wins the 400 meters and 800 meters and grabs the meet MVP title. The soph field events come up big time and score in 3 out of 4 events.

1/16 Stanner Games- Great tune up meet for the Varsity


1/8 Freedom Games- The Varsity goes to SI for the largest meet of the year.  Some hot times are thrown down in the 300 by Conor Shalvey who runs a PR going sub 38 for the first time leading 8 guys to 40 seconds or faster times.  The distance squad is impressive as 11 guys break 5. (8 of them go 4:50 or faster)  3 Freshmen (Brotwn, Gill and Wong) go sub 5 and earn the famed T shirt.

1/8 Hispanic Games- The Young knights go to the NY Armory and post some impressive times.  Dorian Fredrick and Luke Ferraro make the finals in the 55 meter dash for their respective years.  Opalka runs a fast mile of 5:19 to take 7th in the Freshman Mile and Jack Breen Leads the Sophs in the Mile with a 5:13 posting.  Adam Hernandez takes 4th in the Soph Long Jump while Ray Castello jumps to a solid PR in the Frosh Long Jump.

1/2 CHSAA Novice Champs-  The vacation ends with the young Knights coming together to take 2nd place in the League Novice Champs.  Solid races in the 600 (Cam Nicolas), 1000 ( Brown), 1600(Wong and Carolan) 3200 (Gill, McCabe and Flett) pace the team. We also score in all 3 relays, 2 guys in the shot.  Meanwhile in Varsity action, we win the Shuttle Hurdle relay and the 4x400 relay.  We also qualify a 4x200 and 4x800 for the NB Grand Prix which will be held at OB on Feb 6th.


12/30 Northshore Invite
-  The last meet of 2021 ends on a high note, we place guys in the finals of the hurdles, shot and high jump.  We win the 4x400 and 600 meters.  The frosh 600 record goes down as D'Angelo Brown breaks 1:30.  A great way to end the year

12/18 Bishop Loughlin Games- The Varsity posts some great performances as we tae 3rd at the Loughlin Games.  Sal Barretta takes 2nd in the 300 to lead us.  Quincy Flett takes silver in the 2 Mile. Grgas and Courant both place in the hurdles as Luke ALexander starts his season with a big 44' throw


12/11 CHSAA Relay Carnival- Some great performances as more of the team sees action.  The freshmen continue to impress with 3 Relays winning medals in the Distance Medley Relay (1st, 2nd,a nd 4th) and a medal in the 300 (Emmatty) The soph take medals in the 4x400 and Novice Dmr.  The Varsity shows its range with a Gold in the 4x400 and 1600 meter run(Corcoran), a second in the 4x800, 1600 (Figueroa) and 300(Barretta) and a 3rd in the shot Put(Alexander)

12/4 SI Relays-  The season starts with a bang as the 4x200 and 4x400 post top 3 times in NYS.  Grgas drops a huge Pr as his wins the 55 Hurdles.  Alexander breaks 43' to take the SHot put.

11/27- Footlocker Regionals- 12 guys decide to continue their XC season with a very competitive race at VCP


11/20 NYS Federation Champs We Knew the Big race favored the Knights.  On the largest stage against the toughest compettion the Knight come up Big.  for the 4th time in the Last 6 Federation championships, The Knights find themselves on the podium as the dust settles.  Picked by the experts to finish a distant 5th, The Knight also grab 2nd in an inspired day

11/20 Jesuit Champs- The JV A moves up to take on Varsity compettion and they are able to 4th place in the varsity race.  The Freshmen cap off their historic undefeated season.  The JV also takes down the top Jesuits schools in their race.


11/13 Varsity and JV Intersectional Champs- 6 Points is all that stood between Xavier and the title.  We ran an inspired race and came soo close.  We had 5 scorers in the top 15 of the race. The JV continue their dominance as they win all 3 JV races (JV A would have finished 7th in the Varsity races)

11/6 Freshman and Sophomore Intersectional Champs- For the 2nd time in School History, The Freshmen were able to take the Title. The Frosh A team place 5 guys in the top 9 of the race The Frosh B team takes 1-7 in their race (9 out of the top 10)  The Sophs continue their improvement as they place 6th improving their 14th place finish as Freshmen

10/30 Varsity/JV and Freshman Sectional and City Champs- We knew the Varsity faced a huge challenege because of the small nature of the meet.  They run great and come in 2nd to FP.  The Freshman take both gold in both the Freshman Races.  The JV team scores 19 points as they continue their winning ways


10/23 OB Ed Bowes Meet-  The first year they hold this meet.  The Freshmen and JV continue their dominance of  the season as they cruise to Ws  The Varsity (resting our top 4) was able to take 3rd place lead by Finn Sweeney who placed 9th to lead the team.  The JV was able to take the top 9 in thier race ( 14 out of top 16)


10/16- Frosh Relays- There was a new Course and the Freshmen were not to be denied as they storm to the overall title and we place 4 teams in the top 13.  We show that we have tremendous depth at this traditional prep for the Championship meets

10/13 Sophomore Sectional and City Champs- They were 7th in the section last year as Freshman and 10 th in the city.  This year they are the most improved part of the team as they Jump up to 3rd in the section and 4th in the City  Greta times by the Trio of Taylor-Woodruff and Shalvey

10/9 Manhattan College Invite-  Some Great times as the Knights mix it up with the top teams in the East.  The JV runs a very competitive race and the Varsity takes 11th in a stacked Eastern States race

10/2 McQuaid Invite- A successful trip up North as the JV wins their race. (2nd time in a row 2019-2021)  Aaron Gill continues a great season as he wins the JV race ( Our 3rd individual win for the weekend) D'Angelo Brown takes 3rd and Gus Hennigan and Aurielian Caille go 5-6 in the race. Anthony MAlshyti and Leo Carolan take 8th and 10th while the pride of westchester James Sutterlin takes 13th place.  7 knights in the top 13  Impressive.  In the Varsity race, Mikey Hawkes lpaces us to a solid 7th place finish.  This race marked the return of Quicny Flett to racing as he finshes 2nd for us, Oettle Sweeney and Dan Carolan finish up the scoring.  We take the Glavin Cup (awarded to top Jesuit school for a record 6th time) on the preformance of Bayonne's own Matt McCabe His performance breaks the tie with Fordham Prep.  Photos to come 

9/30-10/2-  FP Development Meet- What a great weekend for the Knights.  On Thursday the Freshman and sopme upperclassmen travelled to VCP for a race.  The Freshman threw down some hot time as the swept places 1-7  Hau Son Wong and Ried Baynes both go sub 9:10 for the historic VCP course with 16 freshman going under 11 mins.  Not to be outdone the Sophomoresmrace very well in the Varsity Race as Jonathan Taylor drops a huge Pr winning the Varsity race with a 15:33 posting  The JV is able to claim 3rd in the Varsity Race


9/25 Xavier Invitational A great day in Staten Island, as we host our own Invitational.  Once again the Freshman start the action with an individual win, as Hau Son Wong takes the race.  The Freshman would go on to score a convincing win over public schools East Islip and Warwick.  The sophs continue to improve as a group as Taylor and Woodruff lead them to a 3rd place finish (just 6 points out of 1st)  Mikey Hawkes continues his undefeated season with a 30 second victory in a race that sees the Knights(state ranked #7) beat Chaminade( State Ranked #8) by 5 points. Solid races by all those in the Varsity race as the Juniors step it up once again.  The JV race sees our top two Freshman Aaron Gill and D'Angelo Brown, go 1-2 to lead the JV to the Victory 19-40 over Chaminade.


9/18 Regis Invitational-  A great start to the season, as the Knights taste compettiton for the first time this season. First up were the Freshman. Gill and Brown pace the Freshmen to a convincing win as they go 1-2 and place 21 athletes in the top 30 of their race.  Great times all around.  Next up were the Sophomores and it was their first time racing the Varsity course.  They did not disappoint as they rally for 4th in the team.  They were led by new comer Jack Taylor who finished 11th overll in his race.  The Juniors took the course and led by Caille and Hennigan, they scored a 30 point victory.  The Varsity was up next and Mikey Hawkes showed he was ready to roll with a comfortable 13:25 for the win, with Oettl placing 4th with a sub 14 posting.  The Three juniors who ran Varsity stepped up in a big way to help the team to a first place finish.  3 team wins and 2 individual wins and 8 top 5 individual finishes  A great way to start the season  

Cross country guys get your unfiorm order forms into the Athetic office (1L)  Uniforms will be given out Friday The sooner you get it in the easier it will be for Mr dormer to get it to you.
