6/6 Eastern States-Assignments posted Wednesday

5/29 CHSAA Championships- The weather was terrible,it was rainy and windy, but even that could not stop the Knights. We went into the meet considered a long shot to place as a team by the "experts " in the league and the Knights roared to a 2nd place finish. (tying our best finish in history)  With a balanced attack the team was able to amass 28 points.  We beat teams that have their own facilties. What a great way to end a difficult year.  The day started with some great racing by a quartet of Juniors in the barrier races, ( Shalvey, Caron, Corcoran and Grgas)  all finish in the top 10 of their event. The 4x100 relays run some great times and the A team makes the final. In the 3200 Meters, Hawkes and Johnson score big points as they take 2nd and 3rd.  We have 2 Guys make the final of the 200 meters (Bank$ and Edmund)  they will go on to take 3rd and 4th.  In the 800 Oettl runs an inspired race and takes 4th (only city kid to score) and in the 1600 meters, Goell runs a lifetime best and grabs 3rd.Then come the relays, always a strength of our team.  We place 3rd in the 4x100. The 4x800 steps up and we place 2 teams in the top 7, The A team taking 4th and the B team taking 7th. We saved the best for last, as we take the CHSAA 4x400 meter crown, (1st time we have won the outdoor relay title)  What a great day.  Many thanks to the O'Shea family for the food and drink that we had.

5/22 NY Relays- In the final tune up before the CHSAA championships, we see some fast times. Matt McCabe becomes another sophomore under 5 for the mile for this year (4 so far).  The 4x100 A and B teams run season bests. Edmund and Banks put thier names in the record books in the 200. O'shea runs a hell of a race for a pr as does Goell in the mile (Thanks to O'Shea for the Pictures)

5/15 NYCHSAA Sectional and City Championships-  A great day at the stadium as the team pulls it together and wins the Sectional and City crowns.  In a year when we have been limited in how many times we can practice together, we are able to pull of the upset. Brandon Edmund comes up big hitting 2 personal bests in the 400 hurdles and 400 meters. The relays come up big as 4 relays (16 guys) score. we have 2 more guys get under 5 for the mile  All around a great total team effort (Thanks to O'Shea for the Pictures)

5/8 FROSH SOPH CHSAA Champs-  Both the Freshman and Sophomore teams finish 6th in their respective State championships.  Inspired racing and competing by all members of both squads.  Highlights include multiple scorers in the distance races (Johnson in the steeple, Flett, McCabe and Woodruff in the 3200) Newman double coring in the 200 and 100 Multiple relays scoring ( the 3200 relay and 1600 relay score on both levels) 18 guys involved in scoring  The future is certainly bright for us.

5/1 Varsity meet at Icahn-  What a great day at the stadium. We see some fast times. Brandon Edmund gets #4ATX Carter Johnson gets the Frosh School Record.  Tons of pr's, Tons of top 5 finishes.

4/24 Frosh Soph Sectional and City Champs- The great results just keep coming, Johnson, Woodruff both score in the Frosh 3200, Flett ad McCabe both pr (sub 11:00) Kobe Newman scores in both the 100 m and 200 m Johnson wins the 3200 and the 1600  All the relays score. Oliver-Carter takes 2nd in the Triple Jump. The Freshman take 4th in the City and Sectionals.  The Sophs take 6th in the City 4th in the section.  It was a great day at Icahn.

4/23 Hell Gate relays for Varsity What a great night for a meet.  The varsity are super competative in this night time meet.  Luke Alexander pr's in the shot, McAllister Whiting runs a huge pr in the Mile.  The DMR, 4x100 and 4x400 all place in the top 4 of their events. Hurdlers has 3 top 3 finishes.

4/17 CHSAA Varsity Meet- Some great races and throws.  We win the 4x800, 2nd in the 100 Hurdles, 400 Hurdles, 2k Steeple, 3200 meters.  The 4x400 takes 3rd place  James Banks makes his triumphant return to the track.

4/10 CHSAA Meet #3- The freshman and sophomores try their hands at the relays and they have a great day. 3 2nd place finishes on the day and 3 other top 4 finishes.  The frosh and soph rose to the occasion. Great day at Ichan

Image
Will Smith at the start of his race.
4/1 CHSAA Varsity Opener-  Icahn Stadium  Cold wet and rainy were the only words to describe the weater at the meet.  That did not stop the Varsity from putting up some hot times. Will Smith leads the sprints quad with a PR in the 400 and Hawkes wins the 1600 with a 4:38

3/27 CHSAA Frosh Soph Opener - Icahn Stadium - It was a great way tp start the Spring Campaign. We only competed on 4 events (Frosh 400, Soph 400, Frosh 800 and Soph 800) and we got some great performances. Kobe Newman and Luke Ferraro both place 3rd in their respective 400's.  Great way to start off the season and the day.  Carter Johnson posts #3ATX Frosh performance in the 800 with his 2:07 posting.  Not to be outdone Jack Breen and Jonathan Taylor both finish in the top 4 of the race (3rd and 4th) .  Next up were the Sophs and Sweeney and Flett lead the team with some personal bests. Sweeney finished a close 2nd and Flett took 6th.

Gentlemen
As the season progresses, we are going to change a few things.
We have been able to get access to Icahn stadium for the field events to practice.  Due to COVID regulations, we are allowed to have 50 kids at practice at Icahn during our session, so we are going to bring the Varsity sprint groups to Icahn as well this week.  We will have the stadium to ourselves this week when we practice, no other team will be there while we are there.  So I need the Varsity Field athletes and Varsity Sprinters to make sure that this is ok with your parents.  You will be traveling by public transportation (4 train and M35 bus).  If your parents are not ok with this, Please let me know and we will work out an alternate plan for you and anyone else who is in a similar situation.
IF you are remote on a day when we are at either Icahn Stadium or East River and you can get to either site and you wish to practice with the team you are most welcome, just let Mr. Dormer know you are coming( you will need to fill out some paperwork so bring a pen) Everyone is always welcome at practice.
In the coming weeks, we will also be returning to Central Park for our distance runs.  You will be traveling by public transportation( B/C train) If your parents are not ok with this, Please let me know and we will work out an alternate plan for you and anyone else who is in a similar situation.

Uniform order forms will listed below.  Uniforms will be handed out for Blue COHORT on Thursday After Practice Maroon COHORT on Friday right after school. Instructions will be on the team page later today.  Sophomores and Freshmen who paid in cross country check the order form to make sure you got everything.  If you didn't get everything (Sophs did not get grey t short and maroon shorts)  you will get it on your assigned day (Thursday or Friday)  We do not want any of the Freshmen or Sophomores going to their first race without a complete uniform. ( If you want to be a champion, you should look the part. )

IF YOU WANT TO TRY A FIELD EVENT  YOU WILL GET A TRY OUT TUESDAY OR THURSDAY Just let Mr. Dormer Know and he will set it up
