MEDAL COUNT: With these 8 medals the season total rises to 271.
It was an exciting day. Many great races and gutsy performances. We ran as well as we could. As a team we finished 8th, but we were 4 point out of 4th place, 6 out of 3rd. A great day. Congrats to the guys who qualified for State Championships, Matt Redden, James Caufield , and hopefully Ed Cullen (we will know later this week). As so often happens, we don't always get the breaks, as was seen by the reversal of James Caufield tremendous victory in the 600. He lead the race the whole way, just getting nipped at the end. Just like Jose Bentiez at the Marathon Road race a year ago. Matt Redden ran a great double, in both races a late surge moved him up a place beating out some big comp, (McCabe in the 3200 and Biggs in the 1600). Pat Kitson had a tough break in the 55 Hurdle finals, but Ed Cullen credits his great finish to the tutoring he received from Pat. Both of the hurdles ran great all the way through to the finals. They certainly lived up to the great hurdle tradition we have had over the past few years. We have had a hurdler score at Cities every year since 1998. The Mile Relay ran great in the 2nd heat of the 1600 final and were able to post a time which stood up to the first heat to take 5th place. As is the case with most Xavier runners, many of the gentlemen on the team either ran an aggressive race or a personal best (most cases both), but they were not satisfied. Always wanting to got faster. The coaching staff was very pleased with the way the team went for it this weekend.
MAYOR'S MEET: Cullen and Kitson be there at 8:30 a.m. Everyone else be there at 12 noon We will try to run relays. So far this is what I've got.
