/ Running Back
Opponent: Holy Cross
Date of Game: 09/08/18 Ht.

Class: Sr.
Hometown:

Details of nominees performance:
Xavier opened the 2018
season with the most talented team it has had since its' 2015 AA
Championship Team. Yet, Holy Cross dominated the first quarter with
two drives deep into Xavier territory. The Xavier Defense bent, but
refused to break and Evan Murphy closed the door on Holy Cross' deepest
penetration with an interception in the Xavier end zone which began the
momentum shift of the game as the Knights then went on a classic 18 play
80 yard Single Wing drive to take the lead which it would never
relinquish. On offense, Evan would also contribute to the Knights
success with 4 carries for 18 yards, but it was his poised and fluid
passing that helped to keep two of Xavier's four scoring drives alive
opening a whole new facet of offense for the traditionally ground and
pound bunch from Manhattan. Evan went 3 for 3 passing for 66 yards
two of which were caught by fellow opening day standout Kevin Connelly.
