Vittiburga School: Xavier
High School
Position :
Running Back / Cornerback
Opponent: St. John the Baptist
Date of Game: 09/16/18 Ht. 5’8” Wt. 165
Class: Sr.
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
Details of nominees performance:
St.
John the Baptist took the opening drive straight down the field and drew
first blood 7-0 and then Xavier would slowly grind to life taking a 12-7
into the half and an 18-7 lead late into the third quarter and would then
open the
flood gates
to win 42-7 at the final. Dan Vittiburga was a
steady workhorse throughout, carrying the ball 24 times for 160 yards with
two touchdowns run of 6 and 9 yards. Yet, he also provided
intangibles that do not always show up in the box score. In Xavier's
first scoring drive he completed a 59 yards pass to Demetrios Demetriades
allowing Xavier to answer SJB score to pull within 7-6. He also had
a
40 yard
punt late in the 3rd quarter that bounced out of bounds
pinning SJB inside their
20 yard
line which set up the most significant score of the
game after an SJB fumble allowed Xavier to take a
two score
lead 18-7. For
second
week, in a row Vittiburga has scored two TDs and had a
game changing
3rd quarter punt that
resulted
Xavier taking a
two score
lead. Against Holy
Cross
he had a
45 yard
punt downed at the
one foot
line which eventually
gave Xavier a short field to take a 14-0 in that game as well.
