of nominees performance:
In the
last contest of the regular season Xavier was fighting to earn a 7-1
record and the #2 seed in the CHSFL AA Playoffs.
In a titan struggle with an improving Holy Trinity team, Xavier
took it on the chin in the first half being held to only 28 yards rushing,
but the Xavier Defense stood strong allowing the offense time to sort
itself out. With the entire
half played in Xavier’s end, Holy Trinity was held to only a failed
field goal attempt and a zero to zero halftime score.
In the second half, the Xavier Defense held Trinity to -8 yards
rushing as the Singlewing roared to life rushing for 142 yards and two
scores. The only blemish on
the defense came with 21 seconds left on the clock resulting in a 14-7
Xavier victory. Returning
Xavier Defensive MVP, Captain and Team Leading Tackler, Linebacker Frank
Masella had his best game of the season logging 14 tackles including 1 for
a loss in Xavier’s stellar defensive performance.
All told on the season, Frank has made 79 tackles including 8 for a
loss and is averaging 10 tackles per game in 2015. |
