of nominees performance:
In the
last AAA-AA contest of the regular season, Xavier continued to improve
after a slow start by defeating St. Francis Prep., 56-0.
Xavier’s defense, which has been stalwart most of the year,
earned its’ first shutout of the season.
Instrumental in that shutout was Xavier’s defensive captain and
leading tackler, Frank Masella. Frank
leads the Xavier defense from his Inside Linebacker position with 69
tackles, he is tied for the most tackles for loss with 19 and he is second
in sacks with 3. Frank makes
all of our defensive play and strength calls and he has been our leading
tackler in 6 of our 8 games this season.
Class Honors:
Frank has an accumulated 90 grade point average during his first two years
at Xavier. As his grades
continue to improve, he managed to earn 2nd Honors grades in
three marking period last year.
League
Honors:
In
Freshman Year, Frank was selected as the Best Defensive Player for the
Freshman Football Team. In
Sophomore Year, he was named as the Coach’s Award winner for his J.V.
team which achieved a 9-2 record, while making it all the way to the AAA
Division Semi-Final Playoff game.
Other Sports & Honors
During the last two years, Frank
has been a three season athlete, playing football in the Fall, Indoor
Track in the Winter and Baseball in the Spring.
In his Sophomore Year, Frank won the 12 Pound Shot-put event at
both the Jesuit Championship and CHSAA Junior Varsity Sectional Meets.
In Baseball he started at third base during his Freshman Year and
he started in Left Field during his Sophomore Year for the J.V. team that
went to the CHSAA AA Semi-Finals.
