CHSFL predictions, Week 2Stepinac @ Xavier (Friday, 7 p.m.) Staszewski: Stepinac was able to get by Fordham Prep on a late James Mullin field goal in Week 1. Xavier is home and looking to rebound from a 28-6 loss to Xaverian. The good news for Chris Stevens’ bunch is Stepinac is not the athletic Clippers. The Knights' running attack was start and stop against the Xaverian defense. John Wilson, Jonny Clark and Chris Mattina showed promise and should have better days. But I think Stepinac again pulls out a close one. Pick: Stepinac Butler: The Knights have too much pride and are too smart not to adjust over the course of a week. Yes, Stepinac impressed with a last-minute win at Fordham Prep, but I’m a big believer in Stevens’ single-wing, with or without Seamus Kelly. Defensive Coaches Kevin Kelly and Bill Paszke will no doubt have a solid game plan to combat the Crusaders. Pick: Xavier |
