2008 Football August Update


        Important Information

         *Remember to keep a copy of the Xavier Physical Form (Both Sides) -- Before Mailing it to the Dean of Students

2008 SEASON
Our first full team meeting of the new season will be Saturday, August 16th at Xavier.  The Varsity will assemble in the 1st Floor "L" Building by 8:30am in order to receive their equipment.  The J.V. will get on line behind the Varsity starting at 9:30am.  Incoming Freshman will not get equipment on August 16th, but they will need to bring in their forms and be dressed in sneakers and shorts so they may begin the tryout process in the gym.  While the J.V. is getting their equipment, the Varsity will be taking their squat and bench press strength tests in the weightroom.  Once the Varsity has finished strength tests they will go to lunch and the J.V. will take their strength tests.  After their strength test the J.V. will go to Rm 3D6 for a team meeting and be dismissed by 1:00pm.  After lunch the Varsity will return at 1:00pm to Rm 3D7 for two 30-minute position meetings.

REMEMBER YOUR PAPERWORK: Please remember to make a copy of the yearly physical form that is to be returned to the Dean of Students' Office just in case your physical gets delayed in the mail or lost in the paper shuffle.  Players can not practice without a medical and they can not miss practice in August if they hope to be eligible to scrimmage on August 30th (necessary to win a starting position)!  In addition you must bring the Parental Consent Form, SIGNED BY YOUR PARENTS.
We will also be collecting money for Jerseys and Camp (Varsity ONLY) on August 16th.  Varsity ($200 + $225 = $425), J.V. ($200) and Freshman will only need to pay ($170).  Any players that do not make the team will have their money completely refunded to them.

Sunday, August 17th is an Off-Day (No Practice)

Monday, August 18th will be our first day on the field for Varsity and Junior Varsity.  (Helmets, Shorts & Cleats)
     During our Pre-Season Week 8/18-8/22, the VARSITY ONLY will be expected to attend a 1 1/2 hour skills
     session prior to practice from 1:00pm - 2:30pm

     The Full Team Warm-ups Start PROMPTLY at 3:00pm!
     Anticipate Full Team Practice lasting from 3:00pm-6:00 pm.

Monday, August 18th will be the first day on the field for the Freshman @ 2:00pm.  (Shorts & Cleats)
ALL FRESHMAN PLAYERS will meet @ 12:30pm at Xavier & ride the team bus to practice together!
Freshman will practice every weekday @ 2:00pm & Saturdays at the discretion of Head Coach John Kelly.

Saturday, August 23th we will all practice on the field from 9:00am - 12:30pm.  (Varsity & JV in Full Equipment)

Camp: (Varsity ONLY)
Sunday, August 24th      - Leave from Xavier @ 7:30am
Friday,  August 29th       - Return to Xavier @ 2:00 pm
